Should a Business Owner Do Their Own VO?

Should a business owner or executive do their own voiceover?

I ask this question because business owners often sound monotone, sing-songy, or just plain abrasive when they do their own VO. To illustrate how this sounds I intentionally chose a really bad photo of myself for this video.

In my own self-interest, I say hire a professional! But there are situations in which a business owner or executive should do their own VO:

When they’re cheap
When they have a big ego
When their unprofessional approach has a quirky charm
When no one else can tell their story in the same way
